Consists chiefly of correspondence, in Italian, between Romualdi and Luigi Antonini (president, Italian American Labor Council of New York City, and the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union) on activities of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union and the AFL-CIO, and the labor movement in Italy; with Max Ascoli on the role of the Italian labor movement in post-war reconstruction; with Alberto Tarchiani (Italian ambassador to the U.S.) on the labor movement in Italy, and political activities of emigrants to Uruguay, Argentina, and Cuba; with Sigfrido Ciccotti (Italia Libre, Buenos Aires) on politics of Italia Libre and Italian emigrants to various Latin American countries; with Giulio Pastore (secretary general, Confederazione Italiana Sindicati Lavoratori) on Italian union relations with the A.F. of L. and communists in Italian politics and trade unions; and with Sol M. Levitas (executive editor, NEW LEADER) on communists in the Italian labor movement. Other correspondents include: Giovanni Capello, Vittorio Gentilli, Giuseppe Lupis, Riccardo Rimini, and Carlo Sforza. Also, memoranda to the U.S. Department of State on Italian post-war emigration to Latin America; U.S. Department of Labor memoranda on communist influence on free Italian labor union elections; and clippings on Italian labor union elections.

Luigi Antonini (1883-1968), an Italian American labor organizer, was born in Vallata Irpino, Avellino, Italy, and came to the United States in 1908. He worked in a cigar factory, a piano factory, and as a dress presser. In 1913, he joined the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, for which he became an organizer for Local 25 in 1916, and, later, for Italian Dressmakers Local 89; from 1934-1967, he was ILGWU vice-president.
